Creating 20 Educational Videos for College Now Greater Cleveland
Preparing for college can feel overwhelming. From applications and financial aid to scholarships, FAFSA and figuring out what comes next, students and families have a lot of information to navigate. That is where College Now Greater Cleveland comes in.
College Now helps students across Northeast Ohio prepare for college and career through advising, financial aid support, scholarships and other resources designed to make the process easier to understand.
Recently, Cleveland Video Company had the opportunity to help College Now bring some of that information to life through a series of 20 educational YouTube videos.
Turning Important Information Into Engaging Videos
The goal of the project was simple: create a collection of videos that students could easily watch and use when preparing for college. The topics covered a wide range of questions students may have throughout the college preparation process, including college applications, FAFSA, financial aid and general tips for getting ready for the next step after high school. College Now provided the expertise and information, while our job was to turn that information into polished, engaging video content.
A Consistent Production Process
For a project with 20 videos, having a consistent and efficient production process was important.
Single-camera production: A clean, professional setup that kept the look consistent across all 20 videos.
Teleprompter: Helped presenters deliver detailed educational information clearly and naturally.
Consistent look: Each video was designed to feel like part of the same overall series.
Editing: Each video went through a detailed editing process to create polished, finished content.
Graphics: On-screen graphics were incorporated to highlight important information and make the educational content easier to follow.
Collaboration: Cleveland Video Company worked closely with the College Now team throughout the process.
Multiple rounds of feedback: Scripts, messaging, edits and presentation details were reviewed and refined along the way.
20 finished videos: The result was a cohesive library of educational content covering college preparation, applications, FAFSA, financial aid and more.
More Than Just a Video Shoot
Projects like this are a good example of why video production is about more than simply showing up with a camera. It also requires collaboration. Working closely with the College Now team allowed us to make adjustments throughout the project and ensure that the final videos reflected both their expertise and the needs of the students they serve.
For Cleveland Video Company, this project was also a great example of the type of larger video production projects we can take on.
