How We Live Streamed Ohio Range Day With No Power or Internet

This year, Cleveland Video Company had the incredible opportunity to partner with Courage Creative Media to livestream Ohio Range Day 2025 — an exclusive, ticket-limited event packed with unique experiences for attendees. For those who couldn’t be there in person, our goal was to livestream everything from live shooting demonstrations to vendor interviews, giving viewers a front-row seat to the entire day.

The Challenge: No Power. No Internet.

There was one big catch: Ohio Range Day takes place in the middle of nowhere. That meant no power and no Internet — two pretty important pieces of the live streaming puzzle.

Here’s how we made it work:

• Power: We ran the entire production on a generator.

• Internet: We deployed Starlink satellite internet, which gave us the stable connection we needed to stream through BoxCast.

• Wireless Coverage: Using a Teradek system, we extended our wireless signal up to 750 feet from our home base. This allowed us to cover multiple ranges and activities without being tied down to one spot.

  
  

The Result

From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., we broadcasted an uninterrupted 11-hour stream that brought the Ohio Range Day experience to a much larger audience. Vendors were interviewed, range activities were showcased, and the atmosphere of the event was captured in real time — despite the technical limitations of being completely off-grid.
